THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AMBASSADOR VISITS MBARARA REGIONAL REFERRAL HOSPITAL

During U.S. Ambassador Natalie E. Brown’s December 14 visit to Mbarara, she made a stop at the Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital to tour the HIV clinic; the maternal, neonatal, and child health units; and United States- funded laboratory construction . During her visit Ambassador Brown observed the U.S. government’s long-standing partnership with the hospital through @USAID, @CDC, and @PEPFAR which has helped the hospital over many years to improve and strengthen laboratories; the quality of maternal, newborn, and child health services; malaria care and treatment services; and more.

Through USAID, PEPFAR currently supports the hospital to improve services related HIV care and treatment, management of drug resistant tuberculosis, and services related to HIV prevention such as voluntary medical male circumcision, prevention of mother-to-child transmission, and key population interventions.
